IT'S NICE TO HAVE A REALIST — BOBBY JOHNSON'S NO WOODY WIDENHOFER

I was watching a tape of Coach Bobby Johnson’s Monday press conference and right away I thought of Woody Widenhofer.

Remember Woody? We’d be 0-5 with six games left and Florida next on the schedule and he’d be talking about going to a bowl game.

Woody was an optimist. Bobby is a realist.

We need a realist.

On Monday, Coach Johnson was asked about the prospects of playing Florida before a sell-out home crowd at night on ESPN2. So far this season, the Commodores are undefeated in sell-out home games (1-0), ESPN games (3-0) and night games (5-0).

He wasn’t thinking about that. He was thinking about how the Gators are right now playing like the best team in America:

“If they want to play with 10, we'll allow them to do it. We’ll take any advantage we can get. We might try to sneak 13 in there — have an odd number so the officials won’t see it.”
