At the beginning of the season, we predicted Vandy would lose to Florida 31-14. No way we score two touchdowns. Call it 31-7.
Meanwhile, don't forget that Florida has one of the best secondaries in the nation. If you thought our passing game looked bad against Arkansas and Georgia...
It'll be a long night. Let's just don't lose a bunch of players before we enter the next three games, all of which we have at least a reasonable chance of being competitive in and maybe even winning.
Stay strong.
I'll be watching my brother's 10-0 Division III SUNY-Maritime team face Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Yes, that's the deaf school, where they beat a drum so the players can feel the vibrations and know when the ball's being snapped.
Hey, it'll be more interesting than the game at Dudley Field.
Have a good Saturday, friends. Go Commodores.

this season isnt over but im glad vandy sports blog writers have thrown in the towel. nice guys.
We haven't thrown in the towel here. We're looking forward to our last three games, when we have at least an outside chance to win. And we is really me, one guy who's taking a family trip this weekend instead of trying to convince himself that Vandy, with one of the nation's worst offenses, is going to beat Florida for the first time in 22 years. It's a balance staying optimistic but also being realistic. This weekend I feel like being realistic.
By the way, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Vandy could win, but Florida would have to self-destruct for us to do so.
"I"CRC just put another nail in his coffin. There is a big difference between losing and getting embarassed. This is disgusting. We need to clean house. Blogs like this one now need to step up and start the discussions about who we can get as our next coach who might make a difference. We used to be "tough to beat". Now we are just the medicine the doctor oredered for the average teams and getting destroyed by the bad teams. No excuse for this crap.
Come on. Let's get the coach surge going right now!! Today!! Who is it going to be. Let's use this forum to the maxand make a difference!!!!!
I ment destroyed by thr good teams.
Was Goro still suspended? Are we really letting a guy transfer without giving him a chance? Funk is probably a nice guy and likely works very hard, but he is nowhere close to an SEC QB. We also had a freshman catch a one hander for a td to end the game. Why are we sticking with WRs that can't get open when this guy might have talent and fire? We need to put the best people on the field to avoid getting completely embarrassed. Hats off to Marve for continuing to crush people and fight deep in games. Caldwell may be ok, but we can't be so sloppy. We have to be disciplined and win the turnover battles. Blocked punts and penalties mixed with the best conference in college football is not going to treat us well. I love Vandy like Dimon (was the last one at an alumni event today), but man do we need to see some tweaks.
On top of the awful performance, it was hard to sit through with the stands full of Florida fans. We should at minimum field a competitive team and at this point,I have not seen that we can even compete with other SEC teams. I hope that a complete overhaul to the coaching staff is in order. In fairness, it's not just the losses this season, it's the fact that we appear to be easily out-coached in all phases; while it does appear that there is enough talent on this team to be more competitive. For example, with this bad wr core (except for Krause/Mathews) it took this late in the season (and garbage time) for the coaching staff to throw the ball to Mathews in the red-zone??? Mathews, a 6'3" wr talent, had his redshirt burned primarily on special teams....while the coaching staff played Wimberly, Herndon, Udom, and Cole in front of him all season......that tells you all that you need to know about the offense this season.
