What are your thoughts on the bowl-bound Commodores?

So we just destroyed Wake Forest 41-7 and are likely headed to either the Liberty Bowl or Music City Bowl.

This time last year, with two victories and no head coach and smarting from a blowout at the hands of the Demon Deacs, who'd have thought we'd be headed to a bowl.

We've got a heck of a head coach. Oh, and we've got a 1,000-yard rusher in Zac Stacy. And blue-chip recruits lining up to play for us. And we finished with an impressive road victory.

And did we mention that Tennessee is staying home?

What are your thoughts on this special season?

I was quite upset when we first hired James Franklin. I have never been so happy to admit that I was completely and utterly wrong.

What does our backfield look like in 2012 with Norman and Stacey? I like have a plethora of weapons.

We got 19 starters returning next year, a top 20 recruiting class and 6 more weeks of practice!!! I love CJF and I love my Dores!! Can't wait for the bowl game. I'll be there how about you???

Who ya with?!?

BTW, would have been so sweet to have beatin UT and possibly been a big part of getting Nutt, Joker and Dooley fired. Although I would have loved to see them all stay a little longer!!!!

Today was my idea of a perfect Saturday, Vanderbilt wins, Tennessee loses.

Excited about a bowl game too. We went to the 2008 Music City Bowl.
Can't wait to see where we will be this year.

Go Vandy!

Yeah, but it's still Memphis.

I've said the backfield is really going to be interesting. Norman, Stacy, Seymour, Hester, Kimbrow, McKenzie(maybe)and Mathers if CJF can work his voodoo on him. Going to be pretty stacked.

Could the Commies wind up playing an undefeated Houston team in the Liberty Bowl?

I just like that they're going to a bowl. Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham, Atlanta, I don't care. I was a student in 1982 and, until three years ago, was losing hope that I'd ever see them go to another bowl.

Coach James Franklin could well be Vanderbilt's Bear Bryant. In 1958, the Bear took over a Bama squad that had won 4 games total over the previous three years. They went 5-4-1 in '58, and didn't get to a bowl game until Bryant's second year (losing to Penn State in the first Liberty Bowl). Interestingly, it took him three years to finally beat Vanderbilt.

If Franklin stays at Vanderbilt as long as Bryant stayed at Alabama, he'll win more than one championship.

By championships, do you mean national champions, SEC champions, SEC East champions or just champs of the state of Tennessee?

Word is on Vandysportsline that we offered Franklin $3M and basically lifetime contract, hard to believe but if true. Hell yeah. I'm all in also!!!

Going to the bowl game and getting season tix again next year!!!!

I mean all of them.

And any other ones they come up with.

Any raise an extension is surely warranted(and the University better pony up some of Malzahn's $3m), but wouldn't it also be nice to show recruits a new indoor practice facility? I got a hammer, I'm ready to go.

Words right out of my mouth. Better get it......VU, Pony-up everyone else has it.

I don't get why people were so upset over Malzahn, he was a high school coach who would still be in high school if not for mitch mustain. Coach Franklin was a know badass recruiter. This team actually improved as the year progressed, when has that happened since 1982. Get your friend on board for season tix in '12 it's time to do our part

Cannot say enough about how excited this season has made me. I went into this fall counting down the days until basketball season, and now I'm counting down the days until the bowl game, signing day, and the start of fall camp. I would encourage anyone who has not already, get season tickets for next year and encourage everyone you know to do it. The best way for us to keep Coach Franklin is to fill up those stands and it starts with whichever bowl game we go to. It looks right now like it's going to be the Liberty Bowl and if that's the case, Memphis is a short drive from Nashville and also has a major airport so there is no excuse for all Vanderbilt fans not to be there and show that we can get behind our football team. Go Dores

Every day that goes by without an announcement that CJF's contract extension is a done deal, I get a little more antsy. It seems to me that we either keep him a long time or lose him right now to North Carolina, Penn State or somebody.

Comments on the Bowl Dec 31............

A StatemenT is to be made: Vanderbilt should bury the best of the Big East; and Yes, I would put them against West Virginia anytime.

These bowls are far and few between for Vanderbilt (2008 or not) and I expect our guys to deliver the ultimate effort in winning against Cincinnati........
